Buy the camera you can hold steady and keep quiet before you buy the one with the longest feature list. Whatever you pick, the microphone and the room matter more to viewers, so a recent phone is a fine start. Skip cameras with a noisy fan or loud autofocus if your microphone sits close to them.

In ASMR the camera sits near the microphone, so any sound it makes ends up in the recording. Autofocus motors, fans and button clicks can all be audible in a silent room.

Look for a camera that lets you lock focus and turn off beeps and other sounds. Test by recording a minute of silence and listening on headphones.
